About me

I'm an experienced integrative psychotherapist with plenty of life experience, endless curiosity and a passion for what I do. I've been in private practice since 2014 and I also supervise other therapists. I work with adult clients of all ages, from a wide range of backgrounds and coming to therapy for all sorts of reasons. In addition to my private practice, I work in the NHS as a trauma therapist. Choosing a therapist can be a daunting experience at what may already be a difficult time for you. For me, the therapeutic relationship is key to working through whatever you're bringing to therapy and I'm invested in you finding the right therapist for you; for this reason if we decide not to continue working together after the initial session, I don't charge for it.

My approach to individual therapy

I'm an integrative psychotherapist, which means I'm trained in a number of therapeutic approaches including psychodynamic, humanistic, body and contemporary relational psychotherapy. I've also trained extensively in trauma focused therapies including , /, and Flash Technique, which have required me to learn about and understand the neuroscience underpinning what I do. I integrate a combination of these different approaches to best work in relationship with you as a unique individual at a particular time. Integrative therapy is also about personal integration - that is, becoming of aware of, coming to know, and coming to terms with different parts of ourselves and our experiences. As we do, we can feel more whole in mind and body and become more fully present in our lives.

Our first individual session

The first session is an opportunity to let me know, as much as you are comfortable to, what brings you to therapy and what you're looking for and for us to start to think together about that. It's also an opportunity to ask any questions and to get a sense of what it might be like for us to work together and we can think about that too. Whatever the therapeutic approach, research shows that the 'therapeutic alliance' is what makes therapy effective - that is, your confidence in me and in the therapy and the quality of our working relationship. Choosing a therapist you feel you can work with - and who feels they can help you - is important. I usually suggest having an initial session before deciding whether to continue.
